Vaccine-related seizures can happen days after a shot

Seizures are terrifying medical events both for the person experiencing them and any other individuals nearby witnessing the seizure take place. As a parent, seeing your child have an unexpected seizure maybe one of the most traumatic and horrifying experiences possible. 

Some children have seizures and then recover with little or no long-term impact, while other children made hurt themselves physically or develop brain damage as a result of a seizure. Seizures are rare, but known side-effects

Different people respond differently to vaccines, as is true of all medications. While a vaccine may be safe for the vast majority of people that medical professionals administer it to, a small minority of those who receive specific vaccines may have severe adverse reactions. 

For example, the immunization given for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) is a common vaccine widely regarded as safe. However, studies have shown that about 4 out of every 10,000 children receiving MMR and varicella vaccines will have a seizure. 

Although sometimes children have quick responses to the shot they receive, it can take as long as 10 days for a vaccine-related seizure to occur. Parents made not realize that the risk lasts so long and may have already stopped monitoring their child closely when the medical event occurs.
